Does your nail need to be roughed up for Gel overlays?

Like acrylics do?Does your nail need to be roughed up for Gel overlays?
NO NO NO and your nail should never be roughed up for acrylics either.

A truly professional nail technician will always put the health of the natural nail first and foremost and will never ';rough'; up the natural nail. A couple of strokes in one direction with a file that is no less than 240 is all that should be done on the natural nail, if the tech is using a really low file like a 100 or even a 80 grit, run, run away fast. If a tech uses a nail drill on your natural nail makes sure that they have a certificate proving that they have had the correct training to be able to use the drill safely without hurting or leaving marks on your natural nails.Does your nail need to be roughed up for Gel overlays?
Yep. I hate that part.
