Where can I get gel nails in NY?

I am looking to get gel nails either in Brooklyn or NYC. I want the ones where they airbrush the white on. I can't find any salon to do it! They do it for my Aunt in NJ but it is too far for me to travel every two weeks or so to get them done. Every salon I call does the ';uv gel nails'; but they have no idea what I mean when I say airbrushing the tip on.Where can I get gel nails in NY?
As a nail tech, I am confused as to why you would want the white to be 'airbrushed' on? The most common methods are either Pink %26amp; white acrylics or gels. Of course, it can be done with polish too, but it doesn't last all that long. Still, many people opt for that instead of acrylics or gels, and thats quite OK. Its all a matter of personal preference.

One thing about the UV gel nails though for anyone who may be interested in getting them, or may have them already. Beware of a scam that many people unknowingly have happen to them.

UV gel nails cost more because the products used in the application cost more than acrylic liquid %26amp; powders. So, be absolutely sure that you are getting real gels or else you are being scammed. A gel looks exactly as it sounds, like a gel. It has the consistency of a hair styling gel, more or less. They are available in a wide variety of colors.

The scam goes like this: You go to a salon, and ask for gel nails. Then the tech pulls out liquid and powder and applies that - sometimes referring to the powder as 'powder gel.' Then they apply a cheap UV topcoat and call them gel nails. They are not gel nails, and there is no such product called 'powder gel.' No liquid and powder is used in the application of gel nails. Only 'gels' are used. They are applied in several layers - usually three layers, and each individual layer must be 'cured' under a special UV lamp for about 2 minutes. If you are getting P%26amp;W's,that is applied either as a seperate layer of white gel (sculpted usually), or as a painted-on UV gel which is also cured. The final coat after the gels have all been applied, and cured is normally either a UV sealer, or finishing gloss (sort of the same thing). The names for this vary by the brand, but that is essentially what it is. The purpose of this is to both protect the gels, and mostly to give your nails a very high glossy shine to them. This also must be cured under a UV lamp. Usually four fingers are done at a time, then cured. The tech works on your other hand while the gels are curing under the light. Then, the thumbs are done, and cured as well. In the application of gels, you will have many individual curings under a UV lamp. If they are not doing this, then something is not right. ALL UV gels MUST be cured under a UV lamp, which BTW, is not the light your nails are often placed under for the polish to dry when you are finished with your nail service - if you have them polished, that is. But P%26amp;W's don't get polish applied to them. But anyway...

Bottome line is this: If you are having any liquid and powder applied to your 'gel' nails, and then getting charged the higher 'gel' nails price (usually at least $10-$15 more than acrylic nails), you are not getting real gel nails, but you are getting ripped off. It happens quite often. And it happens because the person simply does not know any better, and does not know the difference between the various application techniques, so they rely on the tech to do the right thing. Just be aware of this kind of scam, thats all.
