When i do a set of gel nails why do they chip and crack around cuticle and side walls?

i use ';salon systems'; gel system. im not touching the side walls or cuticles with the gel i.e....i leave a gap. do you think the primer is too thick or thin? When i do a set of gel nails why do they chip and crack around cuticle and side walls?
Hi,

I am an advanced nail tech and moved away from Salon System products as I too was experiencing this problem. I changed to NSI products and use builder gel whether I am doing sculptured or tips. Also I found NSI do a really good primer which offers great adhesion of the gel. Also ensure that the nail is slightly rough for those clients with an oily nail plate as this will only prevent proper adhesion. And like you are already doing, keep away from the cuticle and side wall to prevent lifting. Hope this helps, and good luck. From a personal experience (I've been having them done for 3 years now): Oil (any kind) around them and once they've grow a little, file them down to make them smooth and you don't need to worry for a while.
you might be working too think dear. depends what product u are useing.
