Why are uv gel nails better then acrylic ?

i have uv gel nails and LOVE them . but my friend just got acrylic and they look the same as mine . so why were mine 60 and hers 40 ? they look the same so what is the diffrence ! ?Why are uv gel nails better then acrylic ?
Neither system is ';better';. It just depends on what you like.





Acrylics are stronger (especially if you have really long nails) and are quick to do, but gels look more natural and last longer.





Gels cost more because they take more time to do. You might have paid 20 more than your friend, but if you got french or clear, you'll get to go 4-6 weeks without having to get fills while your friend will have to go back in 2 weeks. Gels are thinner so when your nails grow out, the gaps wont be as visible as if you had acrylics. Also, acrylics will yellow after a few weeks. Gels will not.

I don't know about them costing $60, but I was told that they are better for the health of your nails. True, they can crack easily.. but there isn't any drilling on your nail bed, just removing the shine. They look so much more natural, IMO.
